Where is Snow Canyon State Park?

Snow Canyon State Park is just outside of St. George in southern Utah. Snow Canyon State Park offers some of the most spectacular desert landscapes and hiking trails in southern Utah. Among its many amazing viewpoints is the Snow Canyon Overlook Trail, a breathtaking 4.9-mile out-and-back hike that offers panoramic views of the entire Snow Canyon State Park.

Getting to And Hiking Snow Canyon Overlook

To get to the overlook begins at the Red Mountain Trailhead which is in Dammeron Valley, a short 15-mile drive from downtown St. George. The hike is about 5 miles roundtrip and has an elevation gain of 524 feet. This hike is considered moderately challenging, but isn’t too bad and the stunning payoff at the end makes every step worth it!

The View At Snow Canyon Overlook

After approximately 2.5 miles of hiking, you'll reach the epic overlook that sprawls over the entirety of Snow Canyon State Park. From this vantage point, the entire sculpted canyon stretches out in a breathtaking panorama. The unique color and texture of red and white rocks in the canyon are an amazing sight to see! Snow Canyon Overlook is a picture perfect location for landscape photography and offers unique lighting for both sunrise and sunset.
